Wylie Cohen, a man who lived and exhibited a gracious and boundless love of family, friends, community theater, and a bridal industry he served for 40+ years passed August 22.
At his memorial service held at the Celebration of Life at the Riverdale Temple, Bronx, New York, Wylie was celebrated for his sense of humor, his ability to be present in personal and business settings, and his resilience, optimism and grace in whatever task he faced, which was especially apparent during the debilitating days of an illness that ultimately took him.
He is survived by wife Sara Franklyn-Crowe, son Matthew and daughter Lea, and hundreds of us who knew him, worked with him and joked around with him in the bridal and special occasion industry, and during community theater rehearsals and performances he so loved.
He was often as he was on stage…articulate, authentic, jovial, thoughtful.
“For a man that was larger than life I am grateful he didn’t suffer for too long in his final days,” posted Franklyn-Crowe in her Facebook memorial. “It’s hard to believe he is gone. We didn’t have enough time together but what we had was priceless. My life will not be the same without him. I am thankful for the support of his amazing kids, Lea and Matthew, for my own, Lindsey and Alexander, and for the love of his incredible friends too numerous to mention.”
