Sabrina Toy joins the Modeca Bridal team as the new Design and Creative Director, bringing her distinct perspective and luxe-fashion experience to brides all around the world.

Launching the collections for the 2023 season, Sabrina Toy is stepping into the role of the Lead Designer for all bridal collections under the Modeca Bridal umbrella.

With over 20 years of experience within the bridal industry, Sabrina has designed for multiple well-known bridal houses throughout her career including Maggie Sottero and Sottero & Midgley.

“The global Modeca team has been so supportive, respectful and extremely fun. Being part of an organization that I share core values with, enables my artistic freedom. With this overwhelming support my designs come to life, and I couldn't be happier to join this uniquely talented team of compassionate people,” said Toy.

“We share a joy and passion for talent and design. I feel Modeca Bridal embraces cultural diversity and is at the forefront of European Bridal Fashion. I’m honored to be part of this new phase. My designs encapsulate the ‘Magic of Modeca’ with the perfect fit, the perfect cut, and the perfect placement of embellishments to help the bride feel her best.”

Dick van Zutphen, Director and owner of Modeca Bridal, states: “With Sabrina Toy taking the helm of our design team, we ensure that the latest fashion trends in bridal are incorporated into each new collection. Our design team creates bridal gowns to match each and every bride’s needs and desires, offering all Modeca brides ultimate femininity, trend-conscious fashion, and romantic sophistication whilst showcasing an appreciation for luxurious fabrics and quality construction.”

Originally from San Francisco, California, the new Creative Director discovered her talent for fashion design as a teenager, designing, cutting, and sewing costumes for her high school dance company, prom gowns for her friends, and even a bridal gown for a teacher without patterns or formal training…they simply just “fit”.

Toy enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise to hone her skills (mastering pattern drafting, illustration, trend and cost analysis, etc.) with the end goal of becoming a bridal gown designer in mind. She then flourished in the prestigious Advanced Fashion Design program (which only 10 students globally were admitted to) and created a collection of fanciful luxury evening wear.

Modeca Bridal is a Dutch based bridal manufacturer with a history for over 70 years; it first started in 1946 in Oldenzaal, The Netherlands, as a little shop that sold lace, buttons and other little knick knacks. After a while, Modeca successfully moved on and started designing hand crafted bridal designs. From that point on, the business flourished and Modeca has jazzed up the bridal industry since. Modeca is a family business, run by the 3rd generation owner and director Dick Van Zutphen. This well-established Dutch bridal house has partners and stores in over 60 countries worldwide.
