It’s not every year that you get to celebrate both a major business anniversary and “marriage.”
But that’s exactly what’s playing out in 2018 for Maritza Bridal Veils Inc., a family-owned and operated company that for 30 years has been designing elegant, unique headpieces and veils for bridal and social occasion stores worldwide.
“Three decades ago, my mother, Maritza Deoleo, started this company out of her home and turned it into a successful entrepreneurial venture, which is the torch I’m carrying on today,” says Jackie Deoleo-Thomas, who grew up working alongside her mother and is now an official partner.
“With the anniversary of Maritza Bridal Veils, we’re rolling out a number of exciting changes over the coming months. Most notably, we are bringing on Edward Berger as part of our business and collection. As many people in the industry know, Edward Berger has a longstanding reputation for high-quality headpieces, veils and custom accessories, much like we do. So this ‘marriage’ within our craft couldn’t be more appropriate and timely. We are thrilled and honored about this new, evolving business direction.”
Maritza Bridal Veils and Edward Berger will officially present together at one booth at the upcoming Chicago Market. The booth will spotlight the blending together of these two brands, plus retailers will have the opportunity to learn more about the relationship from Jackie Deoleo-Thomas and Edward Berger’s longtime co-owners, Shira and Steve Siegel.
“We made the decision to move to Florida after having been in New Jersey and New York for all our lives,” says Shira, whose father, Herman Armel, acquired the company 70 years ago.
“All of our best-selling styles will continue and many more will evolve. We’re excited to be working closely with Maritza and Jackie to ensure the integrity of our designs remains strong, plus share our expertise and understanding. However, Maritza Bridal Veils will be housing and handling the bulk of our business operations by early summer of 2018.”
Also coming this year: a cutting-edge Maritza Bridal Veils website to better serve customers and effectively communicate the value behind the company, its products and its people.
This stronger online presence is slated to feature news, accessory tips for brides, improved product catalogues and store locators. It will also have customer profiles and the history Maritza Bridal Veils and its collections, including Paisley B Designs, a division launched in 2014 that’s dedicated to brides who prefer traditional looks on a budget.

Past time to support the importance of the gown
It is beyond time for bridal consumer media and bloggers who make their living advising the bride to emphasize the value, importance and central role of the gown. . . not just how to save money on its purchase.
