Maggie Sottero Designs acquires UK distribution company; receives awards

As it continues to expand and strengthen its global strategy, Maggie Sottero Designs has decided to acquire its UK operations with the announcement of its distributor’s retirement.

Looking to global initiatives in the coming seasons, Maggie Sottero Designs will transition The Bridal Company to become Maggie Sottero Designs Limited, focusing on integration of distributions and developing relationships with stockists directly.

“We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Paul Buist of The Bridal Company for his support and advocacy over the years, and congratulate him on his retirement,” said Tom Manning, president of Maggie Sottero Designs.

“His leadership has helped to establish the UK as our second-largest market, with growing representation for our three lines. We’re excited for this new chapter, as we work intimately with retailers to develop our business and make dreams a reality for our brides all over the world.”   

This acquisition comes on the heels of a strong season of international recognition and awards for Maggie Sottero Designs, including Best Customer Service and Best Designer Gown Collection, Sottero and Midgley, at the 2018 RBA awards; Dress of the Year, Allen (Winner) from the UK Wedding Awards; Best Bridal Gown Collection, Maggie Sottero from the British Wedding Awards; Best Bridal Distributor, Lark Bridal from the Irish Enterprise Awards; Leading Suppliers of Luxury Bridal Fashion, Lark Bridal, for the Worldwide Business Review.

Furthermore, the design house looks forward to hearing the results of nominations on the horizon, including considerations for several Bridal Buyer Awards categories: Gown of the Year (Cordelia and Meryl), Best Plus-Size Collection, Best Bridal Manufacturer, and Best Customer Service.
