Joan F. Calabrese, a fashion industry leader in children’s clothing design for over 40 years with her Joan Calabrese Collection, and world renowned with dresses installed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on July 16, 2017 at the age of 77.

Joan was a talented fashion sketch artist, and connoisseur of fine fabrics. Her work is considered the finest representation of children’s couture. A multiple award winner of industry recognition for design and company service, Joan was also personally loved by all those she touched, including the staff at Mon Cheri Bridals, and the multitude of retailers who carry her collections.

“We are saddened by the recent loss of our talented designer, Joan Calabrese,” said Steve Lang, CEO of Mon Cheri Bridals. “But more than just a designer, she was family. Mon Cheri Family. We will miss her deeply. But we know her spirit will live on forever in the smiles and laughter of every little girl in a Joan Calabrese gown.”

Beloved wife of 57 years of Jack Calabrese and loving mother of Marisa Moore (Dean) and Elena Calabrese (Steven Younger), adoring grandmother of Francesca and Zachary Moore and Luca Younger and devoted sister of Lorraine Arena and the late Larry Cardarelli.
